Olympic Run Day for Public Health kicks off in Hanoi

The annual Olympic Run Day for Public Health and the 46th Ha Noi Moi Newspaper Run for peace were launched simultaneously at a ceremony in Hanoi on March 24.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Ngo Van Quy said the runs are meaningful and practical training activities for people.

A run around Hoan Kiem Lake area took place in response to the launch, drawing the participation of Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Khanh Hai, representatives of Hanoi’s authorities, armed force, and physical training centres, and over 8,000 local residents.

The event was estimated to attract more than 7 million participants nationwide.

The same day, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports held competitions of various sports, including badminton, sepak takraw, shuttlecock kicking, and traditional Vietnamese martial arts, along Dinh Tien Hoang street. The activity aimed to celebrate the 73th traditional day of Vietnam’s sport and physical training sector (March 27, 1946-2019).
