Thailand wins big at the 2019 Golden Racket Table Tennis Championship

Thailand team dominated in the men’s team and women’s team events at the 33rd Golden Racket Table Tennis Championship which wrapped up at the Nguyen Du Gymnasium in Ho Chi Minh City on July 7.

In the women’s singles, Sun Chen of the Ho Chi Minh City team beat Zhao Lin of China’s Guangxi team 4-1 to be crowned champion.

Meanwhile, Wang Kaibo of China’s Guangxi team earned the title in the men’s singles after beating his teammate Liang Tianhong 4-3.

The winners of each team category pocketed VND30 million (US$1,300) while VND20 million (US$870) in cash was awarded for each of the singles events.

The four-day event is one of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) tournaments.

This year’s tournament gathered nearly 100 players from across the globe, including Guangxi (China), Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong (China), the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
