Vietnamese women's U19 team arrives in RoK for international tournament

The Vietnamese women’s U19 team arrived in the capital city of Seoul in the Republic of Korea (RoK) for an international friendly tournament which taking place from July 15-20.

This is a preparation step within the first-stage training plan for the final round of the AFC U19 Women's Championship in Thailand in late October.

Earlier, Japanese head coach Ijiri Akira shortened the list from 23 to 18 players for the training camp in the RoK.

As planned, Vietnamese players will compete with three strong opponents, namely the RoK’s U18 team, the U18 team from Shanghai, Hong Kong (China), and U18 Osaka (Japan), from July 17-19.

Today, the teams are attending a cultural exchange programmein Goyang city, Gyeonggi province. A technical meeting between representatives of the teams will take place tonight (local time).

The coaching board will closely monitor the players’ performance to better understand the abilities and limitations of each individual, thereby making the final decision on the playstyle for the team, said coach Ijiri Akira.

After the tournament, the players will return to their clubs before they gather for the second stage of the training plan from August 1-28 at the Youth football training centre in Hanoi.
