Paralympics: Fleur Jong leaps to victory and into the record books in long jump T64

Dutch athlete Fleur Jong delivered on her aim of winning gold in the women’s long jump T64, and did so in style with a world record leap of 6.16m on Day 4 of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games on August 28.

The two-time European champion had led an impressive field, which included two-time Paralympic champion Marie-Amelie le Fur from France at the Olympic Stadium. The 32-year-old, who is also a four-time world champion, claimed silver with a jump of 5.99m.

Jong’s compatriot, who came second in the European championships, Marlene van Gansewinkel, took bronze in 5.78m. Great Britain’s Stef Reid, who has two Paralympic silver medals in long jump, finished just outside the medals on 5.75m, which was a season’s best.

World record and gold for Great Britain on Cycling Track

Kadeena Cox, Jaco van Gass and Jody Cundy win the mixed C1-5 750m team sprint in 47.579 beating the world record set just hours earlier by China in the qualifying race.

China finished only 0.106 seconds behind Great Britain in the gold medal race.

USA's Susannah Scaroni beats teammate Tatyana McFadden to win 5000m T54

USA’s Susannah Scaroni upset her compatriot Tatyana McFadden’s hope of winning her eighth Paralympic gold medal when she lead from the front the women’s wheelchair 5000m T54 race.

The 30-year-old put in an outstanding performance to win eight seconds ahead of her nearest rival at the Olympic Stadium on Day 4 of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. She finished in 10:52.57 to set a new Paralympic record with Switzerland’s Manuela Schaer landing in 11:00.50 and McFadden claiming bronze in 11:15.13.

Spain's Yassine Ouhdadi El Ataby has clinched gold in the men's 5,000m T13 in the final lap, powering home to beat Australia's Jaryd Clifford. Bronze went to Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC)'s Aleksandr Kostin.

Susana Rodriguez made history after winning Spain's first Paralympic gold medal in triathlon in the PTV1 event held in Odaiba Marine Park.

The three-time world champion lead from start to finish, crossing the line four seconds ahead of silver medallist Anna Barbaro of Italy.

Snyder takes gold in men's PTVI

Brad Snyder is now a Paralympic champion in two sports. The five-time Paralympic Swimming medallist made the switch to the triathlon for Tokyo 2020.

Spain's Jose Luis Garcia Serrano clinched the silver with Japan's Yoneoka Satoru claiming bronze.

USA's Alyssa Seely takes gold in women's PTS2

Reigning champ Alyssa Seely claimed victory in women's PTS2 followed by teammate Hailey Danz and Italy's Veronica Yoko Plebani.

Every second counts when it comes to triathlon. Seely finished with a time of 1:14:03 whilst Danz followed just .55 seconds later.

Alexis Hanquinquant wins gold in men's PTS4

Alexis Hanquinquant has won the first gold medal of the day for France. The three-time world champion led the race all the way through and clocked in at a blistering time of 59:58. UDA Hideki, who made his Paralympic debut at the home Games, takes silver and Spain's Alejandro Sanchez Palomero claimed bronze.
