Paralympics: China’s He Zihao hits golden target in archery men's individual compound

He Zihao of China staked his claim on gold after eclipsing Ramezan Biabani from Islamic Republic of Iran during the men's individual compound medal match.

This is the second gold medal for the 27-year-old Chinese athlete after winning gold in the mixed team compound on August 29 in his Paralympic debut. Meanwhile, teammate AI Xiliang managed to snag a bronze after beating Slovakia's Marcel Pavlik 144-142.

Cycling Road

It was a 1-2 podium finish for Slovakia as Patrik Kuril and Jozef Metelka took gold and silver in the men's C4 time trial held at Fuji International Speedway. The two Slovakians were neck to neck in the final lap of the race: Kuril finished with a time of 45:47.10 whilst teammate Metelka arrived 17.95 seconds (46:05:05) behind Kuril to clinch silver. Meanwhile, George Peasgood from USA claimed bronze.

The women's T1-2 - the final Cycling Road event of today - was won by Germany's Jana Majunke, with three-time Paralympic champion Carol Cooke taking silver while Majunke's teammate Angelika Dreock Kaeser finished with the bronze.

Other gold medal winners of the afternoon session included Alexandre Lloveras (France) – Men’s B time trial; Benjamin Watson (Great Britain) – Men’s C3 time trial; Daniel Abraham Gebru (Netherlands) – Men’s C5 time trial; Chen Jianxin (China) – Men’s T1-2 time trial; and Katie-George Dunlevy (Ireland) – Women’s B time trial.

Shooting

China came away with two medals in the men's 10m air pistol SH1, with Yang Chao clinching gold after finishing with an overall score of 237.9 (a Paralympic record), while Huang Xing won silver with a score of 237.5 - just .4 difference to Yang's.

Swimming

Reece Dunn of Team Great Britain claimed gold and broke world record in the men’s 200m individual medley on Tuesday, touching in at 2:08.02. It was his second world record and fourth title at Tokyo 2020. Earlier on August 27, he beat the world record in the men's 200m freestyle S14 as well.
