Players to miss the two games include defenders Tran Van Kien and Truong Van Thiet, midfielders Tran Minh Vuong, Nguyen Trong Hoang and Nguyen Trong Dai, and striker Nguyen Xuan Nam.

The absence of Vuong and Hoang is a big disadvantage for Vietnam. Vuong has yet to recover from tendon injuries while Hoang is being treated for a herniated disc.

Among the 27 selected players, there are five notable names from the under-22 crop to watch, namely goalkeeper Nguyen Van Toan, midfielder Ly Cong Hoang Anh and three defenders Nguyen Thanh Binh, Le Van Xuan and Bui Hoang Viet Anh.

The team leave Hanoi for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the early morning of October 1, the flight from Noi Bai Airport expected to take nearly 7 hours.

The match between Vietnam and China is scheduled to take place on October 7 in the UAE, after that the team will travel to Oman for a clash with the hosts on October 12.
