In a winner-announcement post on its official Facebook page on October 5, the FIFA page described Hieu's goal as “a sublime solo effort.”
In the 26th minute of the match on September 16, Hieu delivered an exceptional personal display, leading the ball from the midfield through three Panama players and goalie Hernandez before finishing from a narrow angle to put Vietnam 3-2 in front.
The victory opened up the chance for Vietnam to advance to the Round of 16.
Hieu’s goal won most votes, followed by Ali Hassanzadeh (Iran), Jovan Lazaveric (Serbia) and Leonardo (Brazil).
There were 301 goals scored in 52 matches, for an average of 5.79 goals per match at the 2021 Futsal World Cup 2021. Vietnam scored seven in their four games.
