Vietnam beats Chinese Taipei 1-0 in opening match

Vietnam beat Chinese Taipei 1-0 in the first match of of Group I under the 2022 Asian Football Confederation's (AFC) U23 Asian Cup Qualifiers in Dolen Omurzakov (Kyrgyzstan) on October 27.

Both teams entered the game carefully during the first minutes. Chinese Taipei U23 players played confidently against Vietnam, which was assessed stronger.

Vietnam was in control of the game near the end of the first half, but their passes were faulty. Meanwhile, their opponents were not able to create any dangerous attacks towards Van Toan’s goal. Vietnam’s defensive line expressed their strong linkages.

The first half ended with a draw 0-0.

Vietnam U23s showed off a better gameplay in the beginning of the second half. The players created intentional passes as well as mid- and long-range shots.

From a pass by Hai Long, Le Van Xuan fired a devilish shot, sending the ball into the right corner of Chinese Taipei goalkeeper Li Guan-pei, in the 82nd minute.

The 1-0 score in favour of Vietnam remained unchanged until the end of the game. Le Van Xuan’s goal helped Vietnam gain three valuable points.
