The tournament is co-organised by the Vietnamese Motorsport Association Limited Liability Company (VMA LLC) and the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports.

The 2021 Vietnam Motorkhana Championship is scheduled to be held periodically, every year in the format of a professional FIA standard sports tournament, thereby selecting excellent drivers representing Vietnam to participate in the FIA World Motorsport Games in Europe.

As this is the first time being held, the 2021 Vietnam Motorkhana Championship is expected to take place on January 15 and gather 40 athletes from all over the country, to participate in two competitions.

The first category consists of 20 athletes who are racers, which have been granted a sports car racing license by VMA LLC. The second category consists of 20 athletes from VMA LLC Member Clubs across the country.

In addition to the main competition categories at the tournament, athletes and guests will also participate in the experience of Go Kart racing.

The 2021 Vietnam Motorkhana Championship will take place at the Formula One (F1) racetrack in Hanoi. This is the first time Vietnam's famous racetrack has organised a competition since its completion.

Due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, the race will not have a face-to-face audience. It is expected that the races will be broadcasted live.

After the debut race, VMA LLC plans to hold two qualifying rounds in Hanoi and Binh Duong in July 2022, and the final round in September to select two athletes, the best male and female to represent Vietnam in the world competition.
