SEA Games 31 athletes receive honour for excellent performance

Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh has signed a decision awarding the Prime Minister’s certificates of merit to 305 athletes who scored excellent performances at the recently concluded 31st Southeast Asian Games.

Deputy PM Minh also submitted a proposal to President Nguyen Xuan Phuc on awarding the Labour Order to several outstanding athletes and teams for winning gold medals at the 31st SEA Games.

Specifically, the second-class Labour Order is proposed to be presented to swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang (5 golds), swimmer Tran Hung Nguyen (4 golds), canoeist Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong (5 golds) and runner Nguyen Thi Oanh (3 golds).

The women’s and U23 men’s football teams are on the tentative list for the third-class Labour Order, along with 19 other gold medallists in athletics, swimming, canoeing, dancesport, finswimming, rowing, gymnastics and weightlifting.

At SEA Games 31, Vietnam topped the medal table with 205 gold, 125 silver and 116 bronze medals, followed by Thailand and Indonesia with 92 and 69 gold medals respectively.
