Vietnamese sprinter secures second gold in Thailand

NDO - Vietnamese sprinter Nguyen Thi Oanh claimed a second individual gold medal at the Thailand Open Track and Field Championships 2015 after winning the women’s 200m event on September 8.

Oanh finished the race in 24.02 seconds, 0.11 second slower than her personal best of 23.91 seconds.

This is Oanh’s second and the third gold medal for Vietnam thus far in this year’s competition, following the previous first place prizes won by Oanh and her teammate Bui Thu Thao in the women’s 100m sprint and long jump events on September 6.

Luong Van Thao brought home another bronze medal for Vietnam in the men’s 400m, clocking a time of 47.68 seconds.

Le Hoai Phuong secured the first gold medal for the Ho Chi Minh City team after winning the men’s 1,500m with a time of 3:59.18.

The Thailand Open 2015 will enter its final day of competition today, with Vietnam’s Tran Thi Yen Hoa competing in the women’s 100m hurdles and Nguyen Van Cong in the men’s triple jump. Athletes of HCM City, who are competing separately to the Vietnamese team, will also join today’s competition.
