This was Nam’s third consecutive jump on the world standings over the past weeks, which was attributed to his making the second round of the recent Cambodia F3 Futures tournament.

Earlier on December 14, Nam made history as Vietnam’s first player to successfully conquer the ATP’s top 1000 so far. Do Minh Quan was the closest previously to the list with his 1,002 ranking in 2006.

In regards to this achievement, the Tennis World USA magazine ran an article on Monday, saying that Nam has created history for Vietnam by becoming the country’s first player to “break into the Top 1,000 rankings in the world”.

Nam is experiencing a successful 2015, leaving an impressive mark at many big tournaments. 18-year-old Nam attended all four junior Grand Slams and even won the Wimbledon junior doubles trophy.

In addition, Nam reached the semi-finals of the ITF Futures event in Cambodia last month and in Egypt in August this year.

Nam will not participate in any international competitions from now until the end of 2015. He will focus on training at his home-club Becamex Binh Duong before resuming international campaigns in mid-January.

Nam is targeting to enter the ATP’s top 500 players next year.
