The six teams will be competing in a round-robin tournament to decide the top two performers who will represent Asia at next year’s Olympic Games in Brazil.

According to the schedule announced by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) on December 21, Vietnam will play their opening match against China on February 29 before taking on Australia and the DPRK on March 2 and 4 respectively.

The last two qualifying matches will be against reigning Asian champions Japan on March 7 and the RoK two days later.

Earlier in the second qualification round, Vietnam lost the opener to Chinese Taipei but then claimed victory over the remaining opponents to secure the solitary berth in the final stage.

It is a great honour for Vietnam to be the only Southeast Asian representative to be present in the last round of qualification.
