Communications centre for 5th Asian Beach Games opens in Da Nang

NDO—The 5th Asian Beach Games (ABG5) International Communications Centre (ICC) opened in the central city of Da Nang on September 23.

The inauguration ceremony saw the presence of Le Khanh Hai, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Vuong Bich Thang, head of the Vietnam Sports Administration; and representatives from the Olympic Council of Asia.

Covering a total area of 250 square metres, the ICC comprises an international television centre and a press centre, which can accommodate nearly 200 reporters at one time.

The centre is also equipped with big screens for live sporting events, high-speed broadband internet, printers, photocopiers and twenty computer sets.

Volunteers are also available to support reporters in covering the games.

The ABG5 is set to take place from September 24 to October 3 with the participation of over 4,500 athletes and trainers, representing 42 nations across Asia. The athletes will be competing for 172 sets of medals in fourteen sports.

The ABG5 competition has already commenced, with several rounds of Muay Thai, which features ten weight categories for men and six for women.

The opening ceremony will take place at the city’s Bien Dong (East Sea) Park on September 24.
