ABG Day 6: Vietnam maintains lead with four more golds

NDO—Vietnam continued to top the rankings of the ongoing Asian Beach Games with an additional four golds, raising its total gold medal count to 35, followed by Thailand and China, which respectively earned 27 and 11 gold medals.

In Vovinam, which has been included in the Games for the first time, Vietnam nabbed one gold in the men’s leg attack techniques events by the four martial artists Huynh Khac Nguyen, Nguyen Binh Dinh, Nguyen Van Cuong and Tran Cong Tao.

The hosts snatched two golds from beach shuttlecock’s men’s and women’s team events while wrestler Nguyen Thi Xuan brought Vietnam its fourth gold in the women's under-50kg.

With two more gold medals in the men’s and women’s team events, Vietnam’s beach shuttlecock ended the Asian Beach Games with a total of seven golds.

In wrestling, Dao Thi Huong got a bronze medal in the women's under-60kg and Nguyen Thi Vinh won a silver in the women's under-70kg events.

In beach petanque, both the men’s and women’s triple teams lost to Thailand, receiving only two golds.

After the sixth day of the Games, Vietnam still stood at the top of the medal tally with 35 golds, 30 silvers and 36 bronzes.
