Vietnam, hosts of Group D in the qualification stage, convincingly beat Iran 2-0 in a match on November 6 at the Vietnam Football Federation’s Youth Training Centre field.

With six points after two wins (the previous win was over India), Vietnam topped the group and bagged the only ticket to the final round of the continental tournament in China.

Vietnam is the second team to quality, following Uzbekistan, who secured their berth last month. Australia has also earned a position to the finals after defeating the North Mariana Islands and Jordan in Group A.

The winners of the Group C will be announced in December.

They will join the top four teams in 2015’s edition - Japan, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, the Republic of Korea and China – who received a direct qualification to the tournament.
