Two silver medals added to Vietnam’s SEA Games tally

Wushu artists continued by winning two additional silver medals for Vietnam on the morning of August 22, thanks to Pham Quoc Khanh in the men’s nanquan event and Nguyen Thuy Linh in the women’s nandao discipline.

Khanh settled for second place in the final competition with 9.67 points, only 0.01 point adrift of the Malaysian fighter, Mun Hua Ho. Another Vietnamese representative, Cao Khac Dat, failed to make the podium finishing fourth with just 9.64 points.

Meanwhile, Thuy Linh scored 9.63 points for her performance, 0.03 point behind the Indonesian gold medalist, Juwita Niza Wasni. Linh’s teammate, Nguyen Thuc Anh, brought home another bronze medal for Vietnam in the same event with 9.61 points.

Archers Loc Thi Dao and Chu Duc Anh also settled for a bronze in the mixed doubles recurve category after beating the Philippine duo with a score of 6-2. Thus, Vietnam’s shooting team officially concluded their SEA Games campaign with a collection of one gold, two silver and two bronze medals.

Cycling contributed one more bronze to Vietnam’s medal count thanks to foursome Mai Nguyen Hung, Nguyen Truong Tai, Huynh Thanh Tung and Trinh Duc Tam in the men’s team 50km time trial race.

Swimming star Nguyen Thi Anh Vien went on to excel at the “blue race”, dominating the women’s 200m backstroke and 400m freestyle preliminary rounds with the best time of 2:18.22 and 4:18.99, respectively.

Additionally, Vietnam’s male swimmers have also qualified for the 200m breaststroke and 200m butterfly final competitions.
