The information was announced at a press brief held by the Volleyball Federation of Vietnam and Can Tho city’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism on April 12.
The tournament will officially open at 19:00 on April 19 and wrap up on April 22, with the total prize of US$12,000. The matches will be held at the beach volleyball court at Song Hau Park in Cai Khe ward, Ninh Kieu district.
This year’s tournament will select the top four teams with the highest scores to attend the Volleyball Women's World Championship, which is expected to take place in Germany later this year.
The annual tournament will see the participation of more than 150 officials, coaches and athletes of 21 strong teams from 11 Asian countries and territories, including Australia, China, Kazakhstan, Japan, Singapore, New Zealand, Thailand, Malaysia (two teams for each country), Hong Kong (China) and Vanuatu (one team each) and hosts Vietnam (three teams).
The tournament is a good opportunity for the Vietnamese players to improve their skills, while promoting the image of the country and people of Vietnam in general and Can Tho in particular.
