After a 4-1 win against Lebanon and a 1-1 draw with Iran, the young Vietnamese women entered the match with the Republic of Korea, in Hanoi on April 30, with confidence.

Despite their efforts, Vietnam conceded the first goal in the 39th minute as the visitors outclassed the hosts in both physique and strategy.

Vietnam scored an equaliser in the 71st minute with a close-range finish by Tuyet Ngan but the balance was tipped in the visiting team’s favour once more with a second goal, by Kim Soo Jin, more than ten minutes later, sealing a 2-1 victory for the Republic of Korea.

After the second round of qualifiers, the Republic of Korea topped Group B while Vietnam and Iran both have 4 points with a goal difference of 2 but Vietnam qualified due to having fewer disciplinary points, with 3, compared to Iran’s 4.

Other teams qualifying for the Asian U-19 Women's Championship are Thailand, Japan, the DPRK, China, Australia and Myanmar.
