Chadwick wins inaugural W Series race in British one-two

Britain’s Jamie Chadwick stood on top of the podium as the first race winner in the new all-female W Series on Saturday with compatriot Alice Powell second at a damp and overcast Hockenheim.

The victory completed a dominant two days for the 20-year-old, one of five Britons in a field of 18 in identical Formula Three cars, after setting the pace in Friday practice and starting on pole position.

* Second-placed Borussia Dortmund squandered a two-goal lead and were held to a 2-2 draw by Werder Bremen at the 32nd round in Bundesliga on Saturday. With the result, Dortmund sit now four points adrift to Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich, who eased 3-1 past bottom side Hannover at home the same day to have 74 points from 32 matches. The Bavarians can wrap a seventh successive title by winning at RB Leipzig next Saturday.

* Liverpool will be without their Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino for Tuesday's Champions League semi-final second leg against Barcelona at Anfield, manager Jurgen Klopp said on Saturday. Klopp could also be without another key forward in Mohamed Salah after the Egyptian was carried off with a head injury in Saturday's 3-2 win at Newcastle.

* Inter Milan risk being dragged into a six-way battle for Champions League qualification after being held to their third consecutive Serie A draw with a 0-0 stalemate at relegation-threatened Udinese on Saturday. The Milanese club are on 63 points with three rounds remaining but Atalanta (59), AS Roma (58), AC Milan (56) and Lazio (55) are yet to play this weekend while Torino are also lingering on 57 points after their draw with Juventus on Friday.

* Chile's Cristian Garin upset third seed Marco Cecchinato 6-2 6-4 to reach his third ATP final of the season at the Munich Open on Saturday. The 22-year-old added to his final appearances in Sao Paulo and Houston this season and will enter the top 40 for the first time when the new ATP rankings are released on Monday.

* Porto stayed two points behind arch rivals Benfica in the Primeira Liga title race after hammering Aves 4-0 at home on Saturday in an emotional atmosphere in the first game since goalkeeper Iker Casillas suffered a heart attack in training. Porto are on 79 points with two games left in the campaign, while leaders Benfica have 81.

* Greek Maria Sakkari rallied from a set and a break down to beat British number one Johanna Konta 2-6 6-4 6-1 and lift her first WTA title at the Rabat Grand Prix in Morocco on Saturday.

* Edinson Cavani missed a stoppage-time penalty as Paris St Germain continued their stuttering end to the season with a 1-1 Ligue 1 draw at home to Nice, with Neymar notching his 50th goal for the club. Despite the recent slump, PSG secured the Ligue 1 title last month and remain 17 points clear at the top of the table, while Nice are seventh on 52 points.

* Lowly Nuremberg moved closer to an immediate return to the second division when they were beaten 2-0 at VfL Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga on Saturday. The defeat left Nuremberg, who are one place off the bottom of the table, with 19 points, five adrift of VfB Stuttgart who are in the relegation playoff spot above them with two games each to play.

* French rider Fabio Quartararo became the youngest MotoGP pole sitter at the age of 20 years and 14 days at the Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez on Saturday. The Petronas Yamaha rider also set a circuit record of one minute 36.880 seconds as he clinched his spot at the front of the starting grid.

* Swiss qualifier Jil Teichmann outlasted home favourite Karolina Muchova 7-6(5) 3-6 6-4 in just under three to clinch her first WTA title at the Prague Open on Saturday. The 21-year-old became the first qualifier to win the title in Prague, and is the 20th different WTA winner in 21 events this season.

* Lyon claimed the French women's football league title for the 13th straight year with a 3-0 home victory over Metz in the final round on Saturday. Lyon sit atop domestic league's table five points clear of Paris Saint-Germain, who finished a 1-1 draw at Guingamp.
