Bayern Munich win Bundesliga title for seventh successive season

Bayern Munich won a record-extending seventh consecutive Bundesliga title on Saturday after crushing Eintracht Frankfurt 5-1 to finish two points ahead of rivals Borussia Dortmund.

The Bavarians, who can secure a domestic double if they beat RB Leipzig in the German Cup final on May 25, have now won the German league title a record 29 times.

* Olympique Lyonnais have agreed a deal to appoint Brazilian Sylvinho as their next head coach to succeed Bruno Genesio, the Ligue 1 club's president said on Saturday. Jean-Michel Aulas added that former Lyon and Brazil player Juninho would be the club's sports director next season, confirming Friday's media reports.

* A group of young and ambitious players who came through Benfica's famous youth academy in Seixal, south of Lisbon, helped the team secure Portugal's Primeira Liga title on Saturday, a victory celebrated by fans across the country. Benfica coach Bruno Lage took a leap of faith in January this year by giving a chance to Seixal-based youngsters, elevating them to the club's first-team squad.

* American Brooks Koepka moved inexorably closer to his fourth major title, maintaining a seven-stroke lead halfway through the third round at the PGA Championship on Saturday.

* Memphis Depay struck twice to help Olympique Lyonnais clinch a Champions League spot with a 4-0 home demolition of Caen in Ligue 1 on Saturday. Dutchman Depay scored each side of the interval with Maxwel Cornet and Moussa Dembele also finding the back of the net to put third-placed Lyon on 69 points, four above fourth-placed St Etienne, who secured a Europa League berth with a 3-0 win over Nice.

* AS Roma’s hopes of qualifying for the Champions League took a huge blow on Saturday when they were held to a 0-0 draw away to Sassuolo in Serie A. Claudio Ranieri’s side are in fifth place, two points behind Atalanta who face Juve in Turin on Sunday, and they will drop to sixth if AC Milan beat Frosinone.

* Norwegian Ada Hegerberg fired Olympique Lyon to an unprecedented fourth straight Women's Champions League title with a first-half hat-trick in a 4-1 win over Barcelona in Saturday's final at Budapest's Groupama Arena.

* A late Domenico Criscito penalty earned Genoa a 1-1 Serie A draw at home to Cagliari on Saturday but Cesare Prandelli’s side remain at risk of relegation. Genoa will finish the weekend in the drop zone if Empoli beat Torino at home on Sunday, after their winless run was extended to nine games.

* Dutch driver Beitske Visser won the second race of the all-female W Series at Zolder in Belgium on Saturday with Britain's Jamie Chadwick retaining the overall lead after beating compatriot Alice Powell for second place. Chadwick, inaugural winner in Hockenheim two weeks ago, had lined up on pole position again but former Red Bull junior driver Visser made the better start and stayed ahead through two safety car periods to win by 8.451 seconds.

* Valencia secured Champions League football for the second year in a row by winning 2-0 at Real Valladolid on Saturday, clinching fourth place in La Liga at the expense of Getafe who drew 2-2 at home to Villarreal. Valencia ended the campaign on 61 points to take fourth spot for a second consecutive season, while Getafe came fifth with 59 and qualified for the Europa League, as did Sevilla who finished sixth with 59 after beating Athletic Bilbao 2-0.

* Australian Caleb Ewan claimed a second career win on the Giro d'Italia when he prevailed in the eighth stage, a 239-km ride from Tortorelo Lido on Saturday.

* Noah Lyles exploded over the final third of the race to win a thrilling men's 100m in a personal best 9.86 seconds at the Shanghai Diamond League on Saturday, pipping fellow American Christian Coleman in a photo-finish. World indoor sprint champion Coleman was awarded the same time, the best of the year so far, and the top four all went under 10 seconds with Akani Simbine of South Africa third (9.95) and last year's winner Reece Prescod of Britain fourth (9.97).

* Bournemouth have signed highly-rated defender Lloyd Kelly from Bristol City on a long-term deal for an undisclosed fee, the Premier League club announced on Saturday. The 20-year-old, who can play at fullback and in central defence, has made 48 appearances and scored two goals for the Championship club (second tier) since making his first team debut in 2017.

* Honda's world champion Marc Marquez took pole position for the French Grand Prix after overcoming crashes in rainy conditions during practice and qualifying at Le Mans on Saturday. The championship leader set a time of one minute, 40.952 seconds on wet tyres immediately before crashing in qualifying and will start alongside the Ducati duo of Danilo Petrucci and Jack Miller on the front row on Sunday.

* LA Galaxy striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic was handed a two-game ban for violent conduct after he grabbed New York City goalkeeper Sean Johnson by the neck in their 2-0 MLS win last Saturday. The pair were involved in an altercation in the 86th minute of the match after Sweden's Ibrahimovic missed an opportunity to score, with Johnson going to ground holding his neck.

* Borussia Dortmund beat Borussia Moenchengladbach 2-0 on Saturday to finish the Bundesliga season in second place, two points behind champions Bayern Munich. The win was not enough to carry them past Bayern, who crushed Eintracht Frankfurt 5-1 to win their seventh straight league title with 78 points. RB Leipzig also qualified for next season's Champions League by finishing third.

* Monaco boosted hope of staying in Ligue 1 with a 2-0 home win over Amiens in Saturday's penultimate round, while Paris Saint-Germain celebrated their already secured title by thrashing struggling Dijon 4-0 in the final home match of the season.
