The tournament has attracted the participation of 148 players from 14 teams including People's Police, Hanoi T&T, Lam Dong, Hai Phong, Khanh Hoa, the Military team, Ho Chi Minh City, Tay Ninh, Tien Giang, Vinh Long, Da Nang, Hanoi, Hai Duong and Dong Nai.
On the first day of competition, Hai Duong, with key players such as Nguyen Duc Tuan, Doan Ba Tuan Anh and Vu Quang Hien, enjoyed a quick 3-0 win over Hanoi 2. Meanwhile, Khanh Hoa defeated Lam Dong 3-1, whilst Hanoi T&T 1 beat Hai Duong 2 team with the score 3-0.
In the women's team event, the Army 1, Hai Duong and Ho Chi Minh City crushed their opponents Vinh Long, Tay Ninh and Tien Giang, respectively, with the same scored of 3-0.
The official opening ceremony of the 37th Nhan Dan Newspaper National Table Tennis Championship 2019 will be held tonight.
This year’s competition has brought together most of the country’s leading players, namely Nguyen Anh Tu, Dinh Quang Linh, Doan Ba Tuan Anh, Mai Hoang My Trang and Nguyen Khoa Dieu Khanh, alongside young talents such as Le Dinh Duc, Bui Van Duc, Bui Ngoc Lan and Pham Thu Huong.
The players are competing for seven sets of medals, in the singles, doubles and team events for both men and women, and the mixed doubles category. In addition, the organising committee will present prizes to the best young male and female players, as well as to the locality with the most animated table tennis movement.
