Spain beat Germany 2-1 to claim Euro under-21 title

A slick Spain side took their revenge on Germany as they lifted the European Under-21 Championship title with a 2-1 win thanks to goals from Fabian Ruiz and Dani Olmo on Sunday.

The Spaniards had suffered a 1-0 defeat by the Germans in the 2017 final but dominated this year’s showpiece at the Stadio Friuli until a late Nadiem Amiri consolation for the Germans.

* Nate Lashley completed a fairytale week with an emphatic six-stroke victory over fellow American Doc Redman at the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit on Sunday. He carded a two-under-par 70 at Detroit Golf Club for his first PGA Tour victory in his 33rd career start. Lashley finished at 25-under 263, earning among other things a spot in next month's British Open at Royal Portrush.

* Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez has agreed to move back to his boyhood club Celta Vigo, the Spanish champions said on Sunday. "Barcelona and Celta Vigo have reached an agreement for the transfer of Denis Suarez. The Galician club will pay Barcelona 12.9 million euros plus 3.1 (million) in variables," Barca announced in a statement.

* Ivory Coast captain Serge Aurier will miss his team's next Africa Cup of Nations match but his tournament is not necessarily over as he had previously suggested. Aurier suffered an ankle injury as his side went down 1-0 to Morocco in Cairo on Thursday and will miss their last Group D game, against Namibia on Monday, coach Ibrahim Kamara said on Sunday.

* South African Christiaan Bezuidenhout clinched his first European Tour title in style with a six-shot victory at the Andalucia Masters in Spain on Sunday. Bezuidenhout shot a closing even-par 71 at Valderrama to finish well clear of a group of five, and earn a spot in next month's British Open in the process.

* Lille have signed United States international winger Timothy Weah from rivals Paris St Germain on a five-year contract, the French Ligue 1 side said in a statement. Weah, the son of former AS Monaco and AC Milan player and current Liberia president George, joined PSG in March last year and made six appearances for the French champions before being loaned to Scotland's Celtic in January.

* Spaniard Maverick Vinales won the Dutch TT at Assen on Sunday for Yamaha's first win of the year while Honda's world champion Marc Marquez settled for second to extend his MotoGP lead to 44 points. Marquez now has 160 points to 116 for Italian Andrea Dovizioso, who finished fourth for Ducati, after eight of 19 races won by four manufacturers.

* Park Sung-hyun made a tap-in birdie at the par-five final hole to win the NW Arkansas Championship on Sunday and stake her claim for the world number one ranking. Park edged fellow Koreans Park In-bee and Kim Hyo-joo and American Danielle Kang by one stroke at Pinnacle Country Club in Rogers. She finished at 18-under-par 195 after a final round of 66.

* Influential midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye will return from injury for Senegal when they take on Kenya on Monday in their last group game at the Africa Cup of Nations but they have been hit with more injury blows, coach Aliou Cisse said on Sunday. Gueye missed the 1-0 loss to Algeria in Group C on Thursday, along with Salif Sane and Ismaila Sarr, with Cisse listing their absence among the reasons for the defeat.

* Mick Schumacher will drive his father Michael’s 2004 Ferrari Formula One car in a demonstration run at the German Grand Prix in Hockenheim next month. Mick, who races in Formula 2 for Italian outfit Prema and is a part of Ferrari’s young driver development programme, will drive the car before qualifying on Saturday July 27 and again before the pre-race drivers’ parade the following day, Formula One’s commercial rights holders said in a media release.

* German Bundesliga side Schalke have signed Turkish center back Ozan Kabak from relegated side Stuttgart, both clubs confirmed on Sunday.

* American midfielder Weston McKennie has extended his running contract with Schalke 04 ahead of schedule, the "Royal Blues" announced in an official statement on Sunday.
