After a challenging day in the Pennines and Lake District featuring three categorised climbs the Correndon-Circus rider sprinted clear of a reduced peloton to take the stage win, making up for his near miss on Monday.
* Bosnia coach Robert Prosinecki has rescinded his resignation after the Balkan nation's football association asked him to stay in charge of the team, the governing body said on Tuesday.
* Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso has suffered a hip injury that will sideline the Argentine for nearly two months, the Premier League club said on Tuesday. Lo Celso, signed on loan by Spurs on deadline day from Spanish side Real Betis, was injured while on international duty during last week's 0-0 draw with Chile where he was substituted early in the second half.

* Premier League champions Manchester City are the first team to have spent more than 1 billion euros to assemble their squad, a study has shown. Data from the Swiss-based CIES Football Observatory showed that City have spent 1.014 billion euros on their current squad. French champions Paris St-Germain were second having spent 913 million euros and Spain's Real Madrid were third with 902 million euros.
* Albania's national football team won 4-2 against Iceland in the sixth round of Euro 2020 qualifiers in Elbasan Arena stadium on Tuesday.
* Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez remain doubts for FC Barcelona's next La Liga game after once again missing team training on Tuesday. Messi has not played for Barca since suffering a calf injury while in pre-season at the start of August, missing most of his side's warm-up matches, as well as their three La Liga matches to date.
