Wins for Arsenal, Man United as Europa League kicks off

Arsenal teenager Bukayo Saka scored his first goal for the club as they beat 10-man Eintracht Frankfurt 3-0, while Manchester United's 17-year-old Mason Greenwood secured a 1-0 win over FC Astana as the Europa League group stage began on Thursday.

* Singapore Airlines (SIA) announced on Thursday (Sep 19) a two-year extension of its title sponsorship of the Formula One Singapore Grand Prix. In a joint release with F1, SIA said it was pleased to continue as the event's title sponsor, a position it has held since 2014.

* The best keeper in the world will be awarded the 'Yachine' trophy, named after former Soviet keeper Lev Yashin, during the Ballon d’Or ceremony, organisers France Football magazine said on Thursday. Yashin, who played for the Soviet Union from 1954-67, is the only keeper to have won the Ballon d’Or award, in 1963.

* Russia's Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova stunned second seed Kiki Bertens 6-1 7-5 to reach the Pan Pacific Open quarter-finals in Osaka on Thursday (Sep 19), while American Sloane Stephens suffered another early exit.

* La Liga champions Barcelona said they will become the first sports club to generate revenue exceeding EUR1 billion (US$1.10 billion) this season. A statement from the club on Thursday said they had made record turnover of EUR990 million (875.91 million pounds) last season and projected an increase to EUR1.047 billion for the 2019/20 campaign.

* Rick Parry is set to be named as the English Football League's (EFL) new chairman and will succeed Ian Lenagan, who stepped down in September last year, the EFL said on Thursday.

* Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Australian star Jason Day and Japan's Hideki Matsuyama will compete in a Skins Game next month in Japan, organisers announced late Wednesday.

* Egypt have appointed former Al Ahly player and coach Hossam El-Badry as manager to replace sacked Mexican Javier Aguirre, the country's FA announced on its website on Thursday.
