Vietnam wins nine golds at Asian bodybuilding championship

Vietnamese athletes won nine gold, eight silver and two bronze medals at the Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships 2019 which concluded in Batam, Indonesia, on October 3.

Pham Thi Phuong Thao brought home three gold medals in the women's fitness, 1.65m and over 30 year-old categories.

2018 world gold medallist Ton Hoang Khanh Lan bagged a gold medal in the women’s 55kg bodybuilding category.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Bich Tram took two gold medals in the women’s over 55kg and in the category for female bodybuilders over 30 years old.

Tram was a Muay Thai boxer who retired six years ago and began training to become a bodybuilder.

Vietnamese athletes achieve impressive results at the Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships 2019 in Indonesia.

Another gold medal went to Nguyen Thi Kim Cuong in the women’s sport physique for athletes over 1.65m.

Vietnam’s eighth gold medal belonged to 2018 world gold medallist Pham Van Phuoc. He continued to prove his strength in the men’s 60kg classical bodybuilding.

The last gold medal of Vietnam was secured by Nguyen Van Kien in the men’s classical bodybuilding at 1.60m.

The tournament attracted athletes from more than 30 countries and territories in Asia.
