HCM City 1 took top honour in style, maintaining an unbeaten streak (nine wins and three draws) throughout the 14 thrilling and exciting matchdays.
It is the fourth time in the last five years that the southern team have been crowned the overall national champions.
Hanoi FC edged past Phong Phu Ha Nam 1-0 in the last match on Friday thanks to a solitary goal by Thai Thi Thao, thus wrapping up their 2019 campaign as the runners-up with 28 points, just two behind HCM City 1.
Meanwhile, Vinacomin came out in third place overall despite finishing level on 23 points with Phong Phu Ha Nam, owing to their better head-to-head record in the tournament.
Forward Huynh Nhu of HCM City 1 was named the most valuable player of the competition, while her teammate Tran Thi Kim Thanh was voted the best goalkeeper. Hanoi’s Pham Thi Hai Yen claimed the “golden boot” prize with 17 goals, while the fair-play prize went to Phong Phu Ha Nam.
The 2019 National Women’s Football Championship brought together seven teams, namely Hanoi, HCM City 1, HCM City 2, Vinacomin, TNG Thai Nguyen, Son La and hosts Phong Phu Ha Nam. Participants competed in a two-leg round-robin format to decide the overall champions.
