In preparation for the tournament, the Vietnamese team, coached by Ijiri Akira, have followed a four-phase training plan, starting from early July 2019.
In the first two phases, head coach Akira carried out some fitness tests to screen the players before moving on to training individual skills and tactics for the whole team.
In the remaining phases, Vietnam U19 women’s training plan featured two trips to the Republic of Korea and Myanmar for friendly games.

It can be said that the Vietnam Football Federation and the coaching staff of the Vietnamese women’s U19 team had designed a thorough, well-organised and quality training plan, thus putting the players in top form and full readiness to confront their physically and tactically strong opponents at the upcoming continental championship.
On October 26, representatives of the Vietnamese team’s coaching staff and doctors will attend a Group A technical meeting, while head coach Ijiri Akira is set to attend a press conference at Oakwood Hotel in Chonburi.

At the 2019 AFC U19 Women’s Championship, Vietnam have been drawn in Group A against hosts Thailand, DPR Korea and Australia, while Group B consists of Japan, China, the Republic of Korea and Myanmar.
As scheduled, Akira’s troops will play Thailand in their opener on October 27 before taking on DPR Korea and Australia on October 30 and November 2, respectively.
The three best teams in the tournament will represent Asia to compete in the 2020 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.
