Vietnam Golden Ball Awards 2019 launched

Sai Gon Giai Phong (Liberated Saigon) newspaper held a press briefing in Ho Chi Minh City on October 31 to introduce the regulations, prize structure and the sponsors of the Vietnam Golden Ball Awards 2019.

Accordingly, the annual awards feature seven prize categories, including the Golden, Silver, and Bronze Ball for men; the Golden, Silver, and Bronze Ball for women; the Golden, Silver, and Bronze Ball for futsal players (men only); the best foreign player; the best young male player (aged under 21); and the best young female player (aged under 21).

As scheduled, the vote for the categories will take place after the conclusion of the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in the Philippines. A gala is set to be held in HCM City on February 13, 2020 to present the awards to the honoured players.

Hanoi FC midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai wins the Golden Ball 2018 as the best male player.

Last year, midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai (Hanoi FC) and Nguyen Thi Tuyet Dung (Phong Phu Ha Nam) were named the winners of the Golden Ball for men and women, respectively.

The Vietnam Golden Ball Awards have been organised annually by Sai Gon Giai Phong newspaper since 1995, aiming to honour the best Vietnamese football players of the year. The awards are widely regarded as the most prestigious trophies for Vietnamese football.
