Djokovic thrashes Berrettini in ATP Finals opener

Novak Djokovic ruthlessly took Matteo Berrettini apart at the ATP Finals on Sunday as he began his quest to reclaim the number one ranking by winning his opening group match 6-2 6-1.

* Roger Federer faces an uphill task to qualify for the last four of the ATP Finals after being defeat 7-5, 7-5 by Dominic Thiem in the opening match on Sunday (Nov 10).

* Liverpool took a huge step towards a first Premier League title in 30 years by beating defending champions Manchester City 3-1 at Anfield on Sunday (Nov 10) to open up an eight-point lead at the top of the table.

* Manchester United climbed back into the top half of the Premier League table on Sunday, as goals from Andreas Pereira and Marcus Rashford and an own goal from Davy Propper gave the side a 3-1 home win over Brighton and Hove Albion.

* Wolverhampton Wanderers shrugged off their midweek Europa League exertions to comfortably beat Aston Villa 2-1 in Sunday's Midlands derby with goals by Ruben Neves and Raul Jimenez.

* AS Roma lost third place in Serie A when they slumped to a 2-0 defeat at Parma after Mattia Sprocati and Andreas Cornelius grabbed second-half goals on Sunday to end the visitors' six-match unbeaten league run.

* Juventus stayed top of Serie A with a 1-0 win over AC Milan thanks to Paulo Dybala's fine strike on Sunday after Cristiano Ronaldo was substituted for the second game in a row and walked straight down the tunnel, clearly unhappy at the decision.

* Borussia Moenchengladbach maintained their four-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga on Sunday (Nov 10) as Patrick Herrmann scored twice in an emphatic 3-1 home win over Werder Bremen.

* Mainz sacked Sandro Schwarz as head coach on Sunday (Nov 10) after more than two years in charge, making him the third boss to be dismissed by a Bundesliga club in the last week. Schwarz, 41, was shown the door after Saturday's 3-2 home defeat to newly-promoted Union Berlin which followed last week's 8-0 drubbing at high-fliers RB Leipzig.

* Dimitri Payet scored twice as 10-man Marseille beat rivals Lyon 2-1 on Sunday (Nov 10) in a bad-tempered derby which was overshadowed by the behaviour of a record home crowd.

* England's Tyrrell Hatton beat Austria's Matthias Schwab on the fourth playoff hole to clinch his second Rolex Series title at the Turkish Airlines Open in Antalya on Sunday after a dramatic six-man playoff.

* Kento Momota won his 10th title of a remarkable year as Japan's world number one defeated Chou Tien-chen to retain his Fuzhou China Open badminton crown on Sunday (Nov 10).

* France emerged teary-eyed and triumphant from a weekend of grit and inspiration to claim their first Fed Cup title in 16 years with a 3-2 win on Sunday over hosts Australia.
