The decision was made shortly after Chung and his players arrived at Tan Son Nhat Airport in Ho Chi Minh City after a ten-day training camp in Japan in preparation for their SEA Games title defence.

Accordingly, eight players were eliminated from the list, goalkeeper Lai Thi Tuyet (Phong Phu Ha Nam); defenders Tran Thi Thu Thao and Cu Thi Huynh Nhu (HCM City); midfielders Bui Thi Trang (Hanoi) and Nguyen Thi Truc Huong (Vinacomin); and forwards Ngan Thi Van Su (Hanoi), Nguyen Thi Thuy Hang and Nguyen Thi Tuyet Ngan (Vinacomin).

According to Chung, the 30th SEA Games allows each team to register a maximum of 20 players, so the coaching staff made thorough considerations and selected those who are in stable form and have abundant experience.

As planned, the Vietnam women’s team will have three more training session in HCM City before heading for the Philippines on November 22.

At the 30th SEA Games, Vietnam have been drawn against Thailand and Indonesia in Group B. Chung’s side will play their opener against Thailand on November 26 before taking on Indonesia three days later.
