Vietnam will head into tonight’s clash with a superior head-to-head record against the Philippines side. Chung’s troops comfortably trounced the Philippines 3-0 in the previous SEA Games two years ago, and then continued to claim a 2-1 triumph at the 2019 AFF Women’s Championship last August.

Nonetheless, the Vietnam tactician talked about the opponents with caution during a press conference on December 4.

“All four semifinalists are well-deserved of their spots. I also highly appreciate the Philippines. They are among the teams with most remarkable progress in Southeast Asia.”

Chung affirmed that his side would try their best to grab a victory and make it through to the final game.

“We have had five days off to recover our fitness and have made thorough preparations for the semifinal against the Philippines. The entire team are now concentrated and excited about the match.”

Answering reporters’ query concerning the issue of supporters, the 68-year-old tactician said: “My players have played many international matches. No matter how many supporters are in attendance, we will still strive to achieve the best possible result.”

The Vietnam-Philippines semifinal is scheduled to take place at 7pm on December 5 at the Binan Football Stadium, while Myanmar will play Thailand in the other semifinal at the Rizal Memorial Stadium earlier on the same day.
