Aerobic earns 66th gold medal for Vietnam at SEA Games 2019

Vietnam have officially surpassed the gold-medal target set for the 30th SEA Games after aerobic athlete Tran Ngoc Thuy Vi finished victorious in the women’s individual event on the morning of December 9 to secure the 66th gold for the country.

Thuy Vi delivered a brilliant performance in the final and got 21.200 points, beating Intakul Chawisa of Thailand by 0.875 points.

The aerobic triumph helped Vietnam exceed the 65-gold target set ahead of their SEA Games departure.

Vo Xuan Vinh missed out on the second title for Vietnam this morning ending up in second place in the men’s 20km race walk with a time of 1:31.38, just 0.18 seconds behind the Indonesian gold medalist.

Nguyen Van Lai brought home an additional silver for Vietnamese athletics in the men’s 5,000m event clocking a time of 14:32.42.

The archery team contributed one silver in the men’s team compound and one bronze medal in the women’s team compound.

As of 11.30am today, Vietnam remained third in the SEA Games medal table, equalling Indonesia’s gold-medal tally (66) but having two silvers fewer.
