Football tournament for Vietnamese community in Japan

The ceremony for the draw for the FAVIJA Olympic Tokyo Cup 2020 for Vietnamese people living in Japan was officially held on February 23.

The event was held by the football association of Vietnamese people in Japan (FAVIJA) under the sponsorship of the Embassy of Vietnam in Japan. It saw the participation of 64 teams, comprising mainly of young trainees and students.

At the draw, 64 teams were divided into 16 groups. According to the organizers, the qualifier round will take place from March 8-15 in two stadiums in the Tokyo area, namely Hachioji and Tokodai University.

The total value of the award is up to 600,000 yen (about VND130 million) with prizes from players from the Vietnamese national football team such as Nguyen Anh Duc, Nguyen Quang Hai, Pham Thanh Luong...

Currently, nearly 400,000 Vietnamese people are living, working, and studying in Japan.

In addition to gathering together the Vietnamese expat community, the event also aimed to enhance the Vietnam-Japan traditional friendship.
