In a statement the Bundesliga side said the entire squad and coaching staff had been tested on Thursday. While Bundesliga clubs have returned to training, they must wait another week to find out about a possible restart to the season after the German government on Thursday delayed any decision over a league resumption amid the coronavirus pandemic.
* World Rugby could announce it’s next boss as early as Saturday with current chairman Bill Beaumont and vice-chairman Agustin Pichot favourites to land the role. Voting closed on Thursday and the announcement was originally to be made on May 12.
* World sport may have ground to a standstill because of the coronavirus pandemic but 160 athletes will take part in a virtual shot put competition on Saturday. This weekend's Valhalla Virtual Shot Put Competition will include an elite head-to-head as British champion Sophie McKinna and British men's champion Scott Lincoln take on top under-20 athletes Lewis Byng and Serena Vincent, with that duel to be streamed live.
* It was a case of back to basics but live tennis returned on Friday with the opening matches at the Tennis Point Exhibition Series event staged near Koblenz in Germany. Eight players, including one-time Wimbledon conqueror of Rafa Nadal, Germany's Dustin Brown, were in action at the Base Tennis centre, for the start of the four-day event.
* Italy's Serie A league will take part in a constructive dialogue with the government over the possible resumption of the current championship, it said on Friday. Serie A has been suspended since March 9 because of the coronavirus outbreak and sports minister Vincenzo Spadafora said on Wednesday that he thought it was unlikely the season could be completed amid a row over government rules for training.
* The 2019-20 youth academy season in England has been terminated due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the English Football League said on Friday.
* Guinea have become the third African country inside 24 hours to declare a premature end to their soccer season in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, following on the heels of Angola and Kenya. The season, which started in October, had only reached the halfway stage and was due to be completed in June.
* The 2021 badminton World Championships will move from its August slot and begin in late November to avoid a clash with the rescheduled Tokyo Olympics next year, the game's governing body said on Friday. The tournament will be held from Nov. 29 to Dec. 5 in the Spanish city of Huelva, the Badminton World Federation said in a statement.
* Three of pole vault's biggest names will compete in a unique competition this weekend, but they will not be breaking any lockdowns as they do battle from their gardens. World record holder Armand Duplantis, twice world champion Sam Kendricks and 2012 Olympic gold medallist Renaud Lavillenie will attempt to vault 5m as many times as they can in 30 minutes in a format they devised together. They will be connected via a live video link with the May 3 Ultimate Garden Clash - Pole Vault Edition streamed to fans on the social media channels of governing body, World Athletics.
* The Hungarian Formula One Grand Prix scheduled for August can only go ahead without spectators due to the latest restrictions imposed to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, organisers said on Friday. The race at the Hungaroring, a circuit outside Budapest, is due to take place on Aug. 2 but Hungary on Thursday said events with more than 500 participants cannot be held until Aug. 15.
