In the letter, the FIFA boss touched on the “Thank You” programme launched in the Vietnamese football community to support doctors on the anti-epidemic frontline, as well as the donations made by clubs, trainers and players in Vietnam to the COVID-19 battle.

“I would like to congratulate you all on such good deeds,” he said.

Infantino stated that in this difficult time, these commendable initiatives in Vietnam have contributed to alleviating pain and bringing hope for a better future, while showing a positive aspect of football that is jointly contributing to the country and the community with a spirit of solidarity and sharing.

Vietnam coach Park Hang-seo and Vietnamese players respond to the "Thank You" campaign to spread a message of gratitude to doctors in the frontline against COVID-19.

On behalf of the world football community, the FIFA President extended his sincere thanks to the VFF President and Vietnamese football for their recent contributions, as well as for their promotion of football’s core values, such as cooperation, respect and unity, helping people and transmitting a positive message in the current difficult period.

Solidarity will drive people towards success, Infantino said, affirming that football communities in Vietnam and the world will join together to overcome such unprecedented circumstances and bring back joy, harmony and happiness.

After a long period of suspension due to COVID-19, Vietnam’s football events will officially resume on May 23 with National Cup matches. Meanwhile, the country’s top-flight tournament, V.League 2020, is scheduled to restart on June 5 with a new format.
