Bayern with one hand on league title after 1-0 win at Dortmund

Joshua Kimmich’s sweet first-half lob gave leaders Bayern Munich a 1-0 win at second-placed Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga on Tuesday to close in on the league title with a seven-point advantage over their rivals and six games left in the season.

* Croatian Marin Pongracic scored his first two Bundesliga goals as VfL Wolfsburg romped to a surprise 4-1 win at Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday, boosting their hopes of playing in European competition next season.

* Lowly Eintracht Frankfurt ended a run of five successive Bundesliga defeats as they staged a late rally to come from behind and force a 3-3 home draw with SC Freiburg on Tuesday.

* Schalke 04, who are struggling for form in the Bundesliga, have lost their top-scorer Suat Serdar for the rest of the season with a torn leg ligament, head coach David Wagner confirmed Tuesday (May 26). The 23-year-old Serdar, who has scored seven league goals this season from defensive midfield, suffered the injury in the second half in Sunday's 3-0 home loss to Augsburg.

* Italy's top flight soccer league Serie A said on Tuesday that broadcast rights holders must pay the final instalment for the current season, which has been halted due to the coronavirus outbreak. Italy's top pay-TV operator SKY, sports streaming service DAZN and global sports agency IMG have not paid the final instalment for the 2019/2020 season, totalling around EUR220 million, sources previously said.

* Reigning Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin and 2017 US Open winner Sloane Stephens will compete in a 2020 World TeamTennis season played at a mountain resort with spectators starting Jul 12. The nine-team US circuit will stage its 45th campaign at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, from Jul 12-Aug 2, the league announced on Tuesday (May 26).

* Reading's first-team players have agreed to defer a "substantial" portion of their wages for three months to help negate the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the English Championship (second-tier) club said on Tuesday.

* Veteran AC Milan forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic has injured his right leg in training and will undergo a scan in 10 days, the Serie A club said in a statement on Tuesday.

* Espanyol and Leganes fans holding current season tickets will be handed free passes for the entire 2020-2021 campaign to compensate for missing matches due to the shutdown caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the two La Liga clubs said on Tuesday.

* RB Leipzig will be without captain Yussuf Poulsen for at least part of the last seven matchdays of the season after suffering a ligament injury on Sunday, the club said. Leipzig are third in the league on 54 points, seven behind leaders Bayern Munich and three off second-placed Borussia Dortmund with seven games left in the campaign.

* British Formula 1 team and supercar maker McLaren said on Tuesday (May 26) it plans to cut 1,200 jobs after the coronavirus crisis hit sales.

* European soccer's governing body UEFA has given the Romanian football federation (FRF) until June 1 to submit plans on how it intends to complete the domestic season, the FRF has said. UEFA last month had given European leagues an initial May 25 deadline to submit plans but the FRF requested an extension after the Romanian government said it was assessing the COVID-19 situation every two weeks.
