Leipzig move into third spot with 4-2 win at Cologne

RB Leipzig reclaimed third place in the Bundesliga with an entertaining 4-2 victory at Cologne on Monday that put them firmly on course for a Champions League spot with five games left in the season.

* Manchester United have extended striker Odion Ighalo's loan from Shanghai Shenhua until the end of January 2021, the Premier League club said on Monday. The 30-year-old made an impressive start to life at United, scoring four times in eight games after signing an initial loan deal until May 31 from the Chinese Super League club.

* The Japanese MotoGP was cancelled over the coronavirus on Monday (Jun 1) as organisers said they would concentrate on holding as many races as possible in Europe this year. The scrapping of the Oct 16-18 race in Motegi follows the axing of the Australian MotoGP, which was due to be held a week later.

* Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuettl has agreed a new four-year contract to stay with the club until 2024, multiple British media outlets have reported. Southampton, who appointed Hasenhuettl on a 2-1/2-year contract in December 2018 after firing Mark Hughes, are expected to confirm the extension later on Tuesday, Sky Sports said.

* Horse racing resumed in England on Monday (Jun 1) as professional sport got under way again following the easing of coronavirus lockdown restrictions.

* Serie A teams will face two-games a week for the rest of the season once the league restarts following the novel coronavirus stoppage, according to the fixture list published on Monday. The league confirmed that it will restart on June 20 and finish on Aug. 2 and there will be matches almost every day during that period as it completes the remaining 12 rounds of matches, plus four games outstanding, in just over six weeks.

* The head of French tennis said on Monday (Jun 1) he would like a full house at the French Open but conceded only the government can decide if spectators can attend the re-arranged tournament.

* Italian football federation president (FIGC) Gabriele Gravina said on Monday (Jun 1) he hoped that a small number of fans will be able to attend matches before the season finishes.

* Leicester City will hold practice matches at an empty King Power Stadium to prepare their players for games without fans when the Premier League resumes this month, manager Brendan Rodgers said.
