The Jamaican forward put the guests ahead in the first half with a penalty kick before blasting a last-gasp goal in second-half injury time to seal the first away victory of the season for Chu Dinh Nghiem’s side.

The two teams produced a strong start to the match creating several opportunities to score, but it was not until the 31st minute that the deadlock was broken in favour of Hanoi FC. Van Quyet was brutally fouled by Ali Rabo in the box, with Gordon successfully converting the resulting penalty to gift the reigning champions the upper hand.

Shortly before halftime, Van Quyet’s convenient pass put Gordon in a one-on-one with goalkeeper Duc Cuong; however, Gordon’s close-range shot was not subtle enough to beat the Binh Duong goalie.

The hosts performed much better in the second half and came close to levelling the score several times, with Nguyen Tien Linh blasting a shot wide two minutes after the hour mark and Youssouf Toure firing an eye-catching freekick (85’) which was unfortunately denied by the post.

The waste of opportunities forced Becamex Binh Duong to pay dearly. In the last injury-time minute, Gordon completed his double by firing a low angled shot past keeper Duc Cuong, thus taking the lead in the V.League 2020 score tally with four goals.

The convincing win lifted Hanoi FC to third place with 10 points, just one point behind second-placed Song Lam Nghe An and right above Becamex Binh Duong on goal difference.

In other Wednesday matches, SHB Da Nang and Quang Ninh Coal recorded respective 3-1 home victories against Hoang Anh Gia Lai and Quang Nam FC.
