Song Lam Nghe An (in yellow) have their five-game clean-sheet run ended by Ho Chi Minh City.

After keeping a clean sheet for five consecutive matches, SLNA were finally forced to concede their first goal by Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City on Tuesday. The opening goal by Pham Van Thanh in the 30th minute officially put an end to SLNA goalkeeper Nguyen Van Hoang’s 480 minutes of completely safeguarding his net in this year’s V.League, contributing to HCM City’s 3-1 away victory.

The convincing win helped Chung Hae-seong’s side move two points clear at the top of the V.League table, leapfrogging SLNA, the leaders after the previous matchday.

2. Saigon FC the only team to remain unbeaten

Despite their home-field advantage, Saigon FC had a difficult match against newly promoted Hong Linh Ha Tinh and even lagged behind for part of their Matchday 6 meeting. However, the brilliance of Brazilian midfielder Geovane helped Hoang Van Phuc’s side claim a precious point with a 1-1 draw at Thong Nhat Stadium, thus becoming the only team to have remained unbeaten after the first six matchdays of V.League 2020.

3. Thanh Hoa FC revived under new manager’s dynasty

Thanh Hoa FC (in yellow) have gone three straight games unbeaten (one draw and two wins).

Thanh Hoa FC are experiencing an incredible revival under the stewardship of new manager Nguyen Thanh Cong, who was appointed to lead the team as a replacement for predecessor Fabio Lopez after the fourth matchday.

The 2-1 away victory against Viettel FC on Tuesday marked the central team’s third consecutive unbeaten league game and also their second win in a row, after a narrow 1-0 triumph over Nam Dinh FC.

These brilliant results have pulled Nguyen Thanh Cong’s side four points clear of the bottom of the table, thus boosting their confidence for the remaining stages of their 2020 V.League campaign. Meanwhile, by suffering their second defeat in a row, Viettel FC are exhibiting big weaknesses in terms of their playing style, and especially their defensive lineup.

4. Stadiums report highest attendance so far this season

With a total of 66,000 spectators in the stands, equivalent to an average of 9,429 per match, Matchday 6 witnessed the highest attendances since the beginning of the season.

Three stadiums attracted 15,000 fans each – Vinh Stadium (SLNA vs HCM City), Thien Truong Stadium (Nam Dinh FC vs Hai Phong FC) and Hoa Xuan Stadium (SHB Da Nang vs Hoang Anh Gia Lai).
