>>> F1 Vietnam Grand Prix 2020 postponed
The decision was made following discussions between the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), the F1 Group, the Vietnamese Motorsports Association Limited Liability Company (VMA), and the Vietnam Grand Prix Limited Liability Company (VGPC).
“This has been an extremely difficult but necessary decision after the thorough consideration of safety criteria as well as the effectiveness of the race,” VGPC General Director Le Ngoc Chi said.
VGPC will refund all tickets sold to customers through the online channels or the distribution agents.
The Vietnam GP is the 13th F1 race cancelled this year, following the events in Australia, China, the Netherlands, Monaco, Azerbaijan, Canada, France, Singapore, Japan, the United States and Brazil.
The Vietnam GP 2020 was initially slated for April 5 but was then put on hold indefinitely on March 13 due to the unpredictable COVID-19 evolutions.
This year’s full F1 calendar features 17 races, most of which take place without fans in attendance. The next race is scheduled for October 25 in Portugal, followed by Emilia Romagna GP (November 1), Turkey GP (November 15), Bahrain GP (November 29), Sakhir GP (December 6) and Abu Dhabi GP (December 13).
