Activities mark 75th anniversary of Vietnam Sports Day

A thematic exhibition themed “President Ho Chi Minh and Vietnamese sports & physical training” opened at the Ho Chi Minh City branch of the Ho Chi Minh Museum on March 27, as part of activities nationwide to mark the 75th anniversary of Vietnam Sports Day (March 27, 1946-2021).

The exhibition is showcasing more than 150 materials, photos, artifacts, medals and orders across three themes, including President Ho Chi Minh’s viewpoints on sports & physical training, the Party and State’s care and directions for the national sports sector, and Ho Chi Minh City following Uncle Ho’s teachings on sports & physical training.

The event will last until May 19, 2021.

On the same day, the Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports organised the 2021 Olympic Run Day for Public Health in celebration of the 46th anniversary of Da Nang’s liberation day (March 29, 1975-2021) and the 75th anniversary of Vietnam Sports Day.

The event gathered the participation of more than 1,500 people representing agencies, units, armed forces, associations, mass organisations and people across the central coastal city.

In his remarks, Director of the municipal Department of Culture and Sports Pham Tan Xu said the Olympic Run Day is a practical activity following President Ho Chi Minh’s call and in response to the campaign “All people exercise their bodies following Uncle Ho’s example”.

The annual event has attracted an increasing number of participants from all walks of life, creating a widespread movement and contributing to disseminating the benefits of sports & physical training in the community, he stated.
