The annual event is part of the activities in response to the campaign “All people practice physical exercise following great Uncle Ho’s example” during 2021-2023 and towards the 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games and the 11th ASEAN Para Games, to be hosted in Vietnam later this year.

In his remarks, Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh emphasised that the Olympic Run Day for Public Health aims to further step up the country’s sports and physical training movements in the new period, and meet the requirements of improving the people’s health and fitness as well as the stature of the Vietnamese people, contributing to enhancing the quality of human resources, building a healthy lifestyle, and consolidating the great national unity bloc.

The event attracts thousands of participants.

Towards SEA Games 31 and ASEAN Para Games 11, he asked all levels and branches to mobilise forces and prepare the best infrastructure to ensure the Games take place successfully and safely, promoting a positive image of Vietnam and Hanoi capital to international friends.

Hanoi will strive to make up 30% of Vietnamese athletes and 30% of Vietnam’s gold medal tally at the upcoming regional Games, Anh added.

The 2021 season marks the 47th version of the Hanoi Moi Newspaper Open Running Tournament, thereby continuing to affirm it as a leading traditional tournament of Vietnamese athletics.

The final round of the 47th Hanoi Moi Newspaper Open Running Tournament for Peace 2021 is scheduled to take place on September 26.
