The slide resulted from Tien Minh’s failure to defend his title in the final round of the recent YONEX Chinese Taipei Open.

Tien Minh currently has 358 more points than the world no.8 player Hu Yun from Hong Kong as well as only 161 and 208 less points than world no.6 Tommy Sugiarto from Indonesia and Kenichi Tago from Japan, respectively.

Nguyen Tien Minh is expected to attend six other international tournaments in the remainder of the year including the 2013 YONEX Open Japan Super Series, Danish Super Series Premier from October 15-20, Chinese Super Series Premier (November 12-17), Hong Kong Super Series (November 19-24), Vietnam Open Grand Prix (December 2-8) and SEA Games in Myanmar (December 14-18), along with the Vietnam National Individual Badminton Championships from September 22-26.

Contrary to Tien Minh, as a semifinalist at the recent Chinese Taipei Open, Vietnam women badminton player Vu Thi Trang climbed up 27 notches to 108th place in the world rankings.
