Representatives of the Southwest Steering Committee (SSC)—along with the An Giang provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People’s Committee and Fatherland Front Committee—have visited and presented gifts to venerables, monks and ethnic Khmer people in the four districts of Tri Ton, Tinh Bien, Chau Thanh and Thoai Son.

The local authorities wished the Khmer people a safe and happy festival and hoped they would strengthen their solidarity to promote the preservation of their traditional cultural identities.

The southern province of Soc Trang held a meeting yesterday with Khmer leaders of local departments, branches and agencies and Party committees.

The Khmer authorities expressed their delight at the provincial leaders’ care for the Khmer community. The province has been deeply concerned about training Khmer officials and creating favourable conditions for them to improve their capacities to meet the requirements of political tasks.

On the occasion, the Tra Vinh provincial authorities have held meetings and presented gifts to Khmer policy beneficiaries, heroic mothers, revolutionary veterans and monks.

The province also supported Khmer households living in difficult circumstances to help them enjoy a prosperous and happy festival. A wide variety of entertainment and activities is also underway.
