Vietnam-Laos special friendship festival kicks off

Vietnam-Laos special friendship festival kicked off in Dien Bien Phu city, on December 8, as one of the activities to mark the 56th anniversary of Vietnam-Laos diplomatic ties and the 41st anniversary of the signing of the Treaty for Friendship and Cooperation between the two countries.

The event was attended by the Counselor of the Lao Embassy in Vietnam Kham Sing Duangvandy, Second Secretary of the Lao Embassy in Vietnam Boun leun Keomani, the Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Hoang Vinh Bao and the leaders of 25 provinces of Vietnam sharing the border with Laos and Cambodia.

Addressing the opening ceremony, the Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, Hoang Vinh Bao, emphasised the significance of the festival in strengthening the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

The festival is expected to become a chance to boost information dissemination on external relations in border areas in order to raise awareness and responsibility of local authorities and people of firmly safeguarding national independence, sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity, maintaining peace and stability for national development and raising Vietnam’s position and prestige in the region and the world as a whole.

The exhibition attracting visitors

The festival also featured a series of activities, including artistic performances, exhibitions and fairs, and serves as a bridge connecting domestic enterprises with Dien Bien province in particular and Vietnam in general to further boost the development of the province’s economy in the country’s renewal and international integration.
