Hue Festival 2020 postponed due to Covid-19

Hue festival 2020, scheduled for April in the ancient imperial city of Hue, has been postponed until the end of August or early September due to the complicated developments of the Covid-19 outbreak.

Thua Thien - Hue Provincial People’s Committee will choose the final date to host the event and will work further with the event’s sponsors on the rescheduling. In case the Covid-19 epidemic continues to spread, the local authorities will make further adjustments.

As previously planned, the 11th Hue Festival will last from April 1 to 6 with a string of programmes including Ao dai (Vietnam’s traditional dress) shows, street carnivals, food festivals and many colourful art performances.

There will also be cultural and community activities as well as tours to places of interests in Thua Thien - Hue Province, including Lang Co Bay, A Luoi mountainous area, and Tam Giang Lagoon.

In addition to the participation of more than 20 foreign art troupes from countries worldwide, including the Republic of Korea, Japan, Israel, France, Russia and the US, among others, the event will also gather many traditional and contemporary Vietnamese art troupes.

First held in 2000, the event has become a major culture event honouring Hue’s cultural heritage, and a unique tourism product which greatly contributes to tourism development.
