The information was discussed at a virtual conference held on October 22 by the Institute for Tourism Development Research under the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism in collaboration with the Republic of Korea Culture and Tourism Institute.

The event entitled “Safety for tourists during the pandemic – The recovery of the tourism industry after the COVID-19 outbreak” attracted the participation of state management agencies on tourism and tourism enterprises from both countries.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, director of the Institute for Tourism Development Research, said that the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic over the past two years has caused a serious decline in the world tourism industry. International travel activities in 2020 were almost completely frozen and were restarted in 2021 only in some countries with wide vaccine coverage.

The issue of restoring tourism at this time is very important, requiring clear guidelines and specific plans from countries for the safe recovery of tourism, Tuan noted.

The conference is expected to create a foundation for building a network of tourism experts between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea in order to complete the relevant policies and actions for the tourism industry to restore safe tourism.

Director of the Republic of Korea Culture and Tourism Institute Dr. Kim Dae Kwan said that the organisation of the conference aims to discuss solutions to ensure the safety of tourists during the pandemic, seeking a way to recover tourism after the pandemic and discussing orientations for future cooperation between the two countries.
