Press accompanies Vietnamese tourism to overcome COVID-19 pandemic

In order to understand the difficulties and challenges facing the tourism industry during the pandemic and the role of the media in the recovery of tourism, on November 27, the Vietnam Journalists Association coordinated with the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) to organise an online forum "Press Accompanies Vietnam Tourism to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic".

The programme is organised in an online format, held at the same time in Hanoi, and other provinces and cities.

The forum features the participation of representatives of the VNAT and leaders of the Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa, Quang Binh, Lang Son, Vinh Phuc provinces; agencies of Journalists Associations of provinces and cities, Vietnam Tourism Association; representatives for leaders of tourism and travel businesses and Travel Clubs, Press Clubs as well as central and local press agencies.

At the seminar, the speakers discussed the difficulties of the tourism industry during the two years of the epidemic and the communication work to stimulate tourism demand in the context of the situation.

The speakers all emphasised, accompanying Vietnamese tourism, the press has really become an information channel, helping policy makers and state managers to grasp the difficult situation of domestic tourism, helping managers to take measures to coordinate the direction in accordance with the current situation.

In the current context, the role of the press is even more important, the press has always accompanied, affirmed and highlighted the position and role of tourism in promoting the development of other industries and fields; helping tourists bypass their apprehension to travel as soon as they enter the "new normal" state; promoting mechanisms and policies to develop specific tourism products of localities, and contributing to building, promoting, positioning images, culture, tourism, the country and people of Vietnam in general and localities in particular.

At the forum this morning, many travel and tourism businesses also expressed their difficulties and proposed recommendations to state management agencies, in order to remove difficulties and find new ways to support enterprises in order to resume production and business in the near future.
