The forum aims to offer solutions to quickly recover and develop sustainable tourism in the "new normal" state.

According to Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association Vu The Binh, the tourism industry must adapt and get used to the concept of "the new normal" in order to recover and develop. The tourism industry needs to adapt product development, human resource training, management, and development of appropriate mechanisms and policies.

After implementing the pilot programme to welcome international visitors from mid-November 2021, up until now, Vietnam has welcomed about 978 international visitors.

This December, Vietnam will continue to welcome a delegation of Thai tourists, which is the result of tourism cooperation activities with countries that ensure the safety for epidemic prevention and control.

At the forum, the delegates also agreed that it is necessary to develop tourism products suitable to the epidemic situation, in the spirit of "safe adaptation, flexibility and safe control of the COVID-19 epidemic".

Vice Chairman of Vietnam Travel Association, Director of Hanoitourist Travel Company Phung Quang Thang said that the unit needs to focus on building products that are safe during the epidemic but still attractive enough interest.

At this time, tourism products need to focus on more sustainable factors, such as cultural, resort, community and mountainous tourism. In addition, visitors will tend to experience "no-touch travel", limiting person-to-person contact.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Da Nang Tourism Association Cao Tri Dung emphasised the model of association between units to share tourism resources. In the central region, a common product has been built between Da Nang - Hue - Quang Nam, forming a heritage road and marine tourism products which increase the attraction for tourists.

At the forum, in addition to proposing more suitable mechanisms and directions to build sustainable tourism products as well as the renewal of old products, the delegates also discussed many other recovery solutions such as digitalization, applying technology to tourism development while developing more potential tourism products such as MICE tourism (tourism combined with actual conferences, seminars and events), golf tourism and culinary tourism.
